QLF and patient motivation

Many dental professionals who have worked with QLF have remarked on the huge positive impact it has on patient communication.
They report that patients find the images interesting and easy to understand, that they make it much easier to get their patients involved in their dental care and that it greatly enhances patient compliance. Below are presented two examples of this effect.

The first four images below are made of a young male patient that showed a "dramatic" oral hygiene and was clearly a high-risk patient. The pictures show abundant and locally almost fierce amounts of red fluorescence. The images were shown to the patients and used when instructing him.

When the patient returned for the next 6-month control visit, new QLF pictures were made (see below). Although not spotless, the improvement was a very pleasant surprise, for the dental professional as well as for the patient.

Another example is the patient below that came up for orthodontic treatment but where the treatment was postponed because of the lack of oral hygiene:

The patient was shown the images, given 1 brushing instruction and sent home and told to report back in 3 weeks. After those 3 weeks the patient showed the following results:

The improvement might be dubbed spectacular. Note however the strong suggestion of caries being present on the medial site of the 12.
