First, the clinical pathways for the many different kinds of treatments should be clearly defined. Second, the incoming patients must be reliably allocated to the appropriate pathway. Third, production data should be available to enable the policlinic to spot changes in demand and adjust to these changes in time.

In collaboration with Plexus Medical Group, Inspektor Research Systems has developed TIP. Using the results from Plexus’ Domino project that defined the available clinical pathways, TIP was designed to allocate incoming patients directly into the appropriate pathway by the receptionist. Besides structuring the intake process, TIP supports the receptionist by integrating information from the hospital information system.

Having streamlined the intake, TIP provides direct feedback on the performance of the policlinic. Number of patients treated, access and throughput times, split out by clinical pathway or by origin are available on a daily basis. Thus TIP is a powerful instrument to monitor and optimize the operation of the policlinic.
